Easy Peasy Pancake Recipe

One of the 10 things I want the boy to learn is how to cook.

With that in mind, I’ve decided to start a recipe section in my blog, featuring our easy peasy child-friendly recipes!

I’ve decided to start off with one of our favourites – and easiest! Pancakes!

Easy Peasy Pancake Recipe
The easiest thing about this recipe is that you don't need to remember any quantities. Weigh the egg, and then use that weight to measure the flour and the milk. So an 80g egg will be matched with 80g of milk and the same of flour.
Prep Time 10
Cook Time 5
Servings
small pancakes
Ingredients
  • 1 egg
  • 1 measure of flour self raising will give you fluffier pancakes
  • 1 measure of milk any type except skimmed
  • 3 pinches bicarbonate of soda for super-fluffing purposes

  • 1 measure of flour self raising will give you fluffier pancakes
  • 1 measure of milk any type except skimmed
  • 3 pinches bicarbonate of soda for super-fluffing purposes
Instructions
  1. Firstly get all your bits together, you'll need scales, a frying pan, a mixing bowl and some sort of whizzer.
  2. Weigh out all your ingredients in a large bowl and then whizzy whizz whizz. Leave the batter for a while if you do decide to go for super-fluffy to let the bicarb work its magic.
  3. Pour the batter into a hot frying pan (remove child/ren to a safe distance for this point) once you can see bubbles through the batter, they are ready to flip. I usually distract the boy at this point by letting him choose his topping.
Recipe Notes

Once the pancakes are cooked through, stack and cover with whatever gloriousness you so choose. These ones are equally as yummy with sweet or savoury accompaniments.

If you want to make more batter, just weigh by extra eggs 🙂

Enjoy!

  5. These look seriously delicious. I am going to make them in my #chucklemums (is that allowed, to use this hashtag? Eek!) pants next Sunday, as NW is in the States for 10 days and won’t be around to do his usual duty of Sunday pancake breakfast. Wish me luck. 🙂 #KCACOLS

  7. I love pancakes however annoying gluten-free-or-he-poops-through-his-clothes-and-won’t-sleep baby has to have special flour and it’s crap.
The toddler would enjoy making these and my husband would definitely enjoy eating them, we may give it a go. But not give any to the baby. #KCACOLS

  8. These look delicious! And the recipe is simple – measuring by the weight of the egg. I have a hopeless memory!

  10. Of course I had to click on this because we loooove pancakes in our family. Bacon and maple syrup pancakes on caravan holidays is a tradition. I never knew about the extra fluffing tips!! I need more fluffing of my pancakes! I have been settling for really flat ones for years!!! Thanks for sharing, Sarah! #KCACOLS

  12. These look fab. At the moment, I am sadly whizzer-less, as I threw out my old blender when I left London and need to get a new one when I finally move into my new house (if this ever happens), so I would have to do the whizzing manually, but there’s nothing better than a good pancake. I might have some for breakfast today, thinking about it. #foodiefriday
