Day 5 of the #30daybloggingchallenge

Who is my favourite superhero and why?

Hmm. Are Superhero’s a relatively new phenomenon? TV wise anyway. Not being American I’ve never set eyes on a Marvel comic book, though of course I remember the old Superman films now I think about it. Oh and Batman – Danny DeVito as the Penguin scared the crap out of me as a kid.

Ok so we’ve established that yes I did have some childhood exposure to superheroes, but who is my favourite?

I would say as a child, it was She-Ra! Princess of Power! She was awesome. High fives to everyone who remembers her and her slightly odd relationship with her twin brother He-Man.

Definitely a bit too close for comfort methinks

And what about when she said the magic words?! I bloody loved it when she “For the Honour of Grey-Skull!” and her sword starts spitting sparks.

a-bloody-mazing

And look at her secret palace! It was brilliant! And she had this gaggle of kick-ass girl pals all with various powers of their own.

And surely you remember the best bit!! Her horse only went and sprouted a unicorn and RAINBOW WINGS!!!

Much better than He-mans crappy lion

Frankly I defy you to find a better modern day hero. In fact, I’m off to download some She-Ra while the boys are out *memories*

P.S for a modern day superhero, just because we’re grown ups now, I’ll leave you with a parting gift…

Who doesnt love a pic of Phwoar and his hammer. I mean Thor! Sorry. Thor and hammer. Ahem.

Disclaimer: All these pictures were screen grabbed off google because I’m a pleb. I’m sure I can find proper credits if need be. Please don’t arrest me.

I’ve somehow managed to get myself nominated for ‘best new blog’ at the MAD Awards 2016 *does small squee* I would LOVE another nomination, if you have a minute.

  6. I’ve always been a big superhero fan, and my daughter is turning out to be one also. She was Captain America for Halloween last year and we watch Supergirl together every week. I’ve always been a big X Men comic fan, but Spiderman was a childhood fave also. #KCACOL

  7. Haha, I vaguely remember them from teenage years. I’m pretty sure I squeezed myself into a powderpuff girls tshirt in fact! Man I was cool. Thanks for commenting xx

  8. Haha! I love the disclaimer!! Ooooh, Thor… Bloody shocking film, but at least looking at Chris Hemsworth made up for it! I only vaguely remember watching She-Ra as a child… Will have to hunt out some old episodes too, and reacquaint myself!! My favourite superhero at the moment is Daredevil-if you haven’t seen this on Netflix, it’s well worth a watch!!
Thanks so much for sharing with #bigpinklink!

  9. Daredevil! The man is blind and fights like a flipping (literally) ninja! But yes She-Ra was by ultimate girl-crush! My son may or may non be named after Wolverine. But Thor……..

  10. Haha – she did have a good palace! I’ve never been that much of one for the comic book superheroes. As a child, Thundercats were my favourite superheroes. Now, I’m counting Buffy. Or Kickass.

Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next Sunday.

  11. I loved She-Ra as a kid, definitely need to watch that again. I had a hamster called She-Ra who was amazing. Thor’s okay, but I prefer the Black Widow. #bigpinklink

  12. I must have missed out on some part of my childhood because I’ve never heard of these characters…I was a bit obsessed with Animals of Farthing Wood though….anyone? lol nope just me then #KCACOLS
