Testing Sainsbury’s Sangria Chicken

This is based on a recipe I spotted on the Sainsbury’s website. I’m always on the look out for new one-pot meals (less washing up!) and this one was…interesting…sangria chicken, anyone?

I’m not going to write out the recipe or method because you can see them here and I’m not one to pass off recipes as my own after nicking them off a supermarket website, suffice to say it involves chicken, fennel, red pepper, sweet potato and oranges. And red wine!

Anyway, all the ingredients go in the pot and you pour over a mix of wine, orange juice & zest and some olive oil. It does say to cook them in two trays, and I wish I had because although this was tasty, it could have been so much better if I had spread it out and the sauce had reduced a bit more. It was still quite yummy though, and really easy to make. The chicken cooks really nicely and doesn’t dry out despite it taking an hour.

I’ll also admit I really wanted to play with my new flat lay background again for the pictures – next time I’ll clean the tray a bit before I take pictures!

What are your favourite one pot dishes?

  1. I do like a supermarket recipe. This sounds lovely, anything for less washing up! I like the bit of mess on the tray in your flat lay. I don’t like it when meals don’t look like they’ve actually been made at home! #foodiefriday

  2. oh wow this is making me so hungry, I guess it is dinner time, I just need to get off my computer now and make some food for this family of mine (I am a terrible cook). I actually like the dirty pan it adds authenticity! YUMMY!

  3. Oooh, I love the recipes from Saisnbury but have never come across this! I love one pot wonders, they are a family live safer! Looks and sounds amazing, I’m going to check this out! #ablogginggoodtime
