It’s the boys last day of Reception today. I can’t believe how fast it’s gone.
I felt quite emotional earlier when we were giving his teacher a gift to say thank you. They really have been brilliant. Rian really has no clue how lucky he is to have spent his first year in capable, kind hands in an environment that has really nurtured a fantastic attitude to learning in him.
He’s gone from borderline apathy, to being keen to try new things, to really make an effort. He’s not afraid to ask for help with something and he loves to be praised for hard work. He’s a very competitive kid and he’s struggling with fair playing and sharing, but that’s got better as well. I’m really hoping that we can channel the competition into his school work as well as who is winning at football – there’s been rather a lot of diving for penalties by all accounts.
I imagine they are all bouncing off the walls today – we’ve had a countdown for the past week and a half about the last day and then the summer holidays “I’ve never had a summer holidays before Mummy, have I?” It got me thinking – neither have, not for a very long time! What on earth am I going to do with him for the next 8.5 weeks?!
Watch this space…!
Wow that is a LONG summer holiday!! My boy only gets six weeks and to be honest that is quite long enough! #triballove x
Yeah not sure how I’m going to handle it. Not had him for that long on my own for years!! 😀
So lucky he was in a good school with teachers that care. It will definitely set him up well for what’s to come in big school. I’m sure you will have lots of fun together. Look forward to seeing what you get up too. X #triballove
8.5 weeks, good lord. Going to be a long, loooooong summer! #tribe
Oh god, how will you cope?! Bring him down on the train to see auntie Fran and be bossed about by Ellie. That’ll be fun.
I might take you up on that!!! Xx
Wow that is a long summer holiday we break up next Thursday and I expect it to be an emotional one as my daughter is moving from primary to secondary, hope it doesn’t send you crazy and or bankrupt!!!

My son finished his second year at school at the end of June ( so I hear ya on the long hold!) his teacher this year has been totally amazing and I had major case of chin wobble as I was saying goodbye to her. Had to leg it so all the other mams didn’t think I was bonkers !
That’s a long summer! I expect to see lots of baking – although I started a-nother diet today so please be kind on my poor waistline!
Congrats on making it through reception!
